TRIVIAL DISASTERS

2014 (English)

A Dark Comedy by AJAY KRISHNAN

Director ATUL KUMAR

SYNOPSIS

A series of comic vignettes, Trivial Disasters is a humorous, cheeky and nearly twisted take on the grave realities of the way we live today. It turns momentous occasions, important relationships and issues on their heads to reveal their ridiculous and rib-tickling sides.

It’s a hilariously bizarre world where marriages come with warranty and exchange offers, kidnappers haggle over ransom like groceries, serial killers are television stars and poet laureates compose for municipal signage. All things preposterous are run-of-the-mill and anything ordinary is earth-shattering. All in all, it’s serious comedy.

SYNOPSIS

A bunch of clowns are putting up Shakespeare’s classic play, Hamlet. They sometimes misinterpret the text, sometimes find new meanings in it, sometimes try to understand it and very often make a mess of it.

They use some phrases from Shakespeare’s original piece and mixed it with gibberish. They even edit the text, throw out some important scenes, and make a mess of the order of things as if the pages got mixed up. In essence, the clowns interpret this classic play in their own way.
