In March 2014, The Company Theatre in collaboration with Sandbox Collective- Bangalore, hosted its first ever festival under the stars with an all-night array of performances at Workspace, Kamshet. This most memorable night of performances from across the country included;
‘Satyashodhak’, a Marathi play directed by Atul Pethe from Pune,
Odissi Dance Recital by Bijayni Satpathy of Nrityagram from Karnataka,
Folk Music Concert by Kaluram Bamaniya from Madhya Pradesh,
‘Daastangoi’, a dramatic storytelling performance by Danish Husain,
‘Madbeth’ an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth as a solo act by Rupesh Tillu,
Hindustani Vocal Recital by Manjusha Patil from Pune
The sunset-to-sunrise program was attended by more than 600 audience members from across India, including the local village community. The Kamshet Arts Festival ’14 was supported by The Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. The Company Theatre aims to host the Kamshet Arts Festival bi-annually, presenting a diverse range of performance art works, both popular and experimental. The 12-hour performance showcase promises to be a significant and celebrated event in the culture calendar of Maharashtra.
